Week 04
Your baby is now 1.0 mm.
By now the dot in your belly has multiplied into several thousand cells and is about 1 millimetre in size. It is growing so fast that you could see it with the naked eye. All these cells are working hard to form your baby and are gathered on one side: the embryonic disc. Of course your body is also making sure that your womb offers a good home for your baby for all those months. In a few weeks the cells around the cavity will form the placenta, which will feed your child for nine months. Other cells form the membranes. Once these first preparations have been made, the fertilised egg will implant in the womb within a few days. For the first weeks your child is then fed through the blood vessels in the wall of the womb.
From now on you can do a pregnancy test. Some women already really feel pregnant now! Your breasts can be very tender, you may have morning sickness and perhaps you are incredibly tired.
