Week 13
About the size ofa lemon
Growth! Your baby is now 7.5 cm and 30 grams.
Now that all the organs have formed, your baby puts all its energy into growing bigger. The amount of amniotic fluid is now steadily increasing. Amniotic fluid is very important for your baby. It allows the baby to move and it also works as a kind of cushion. Thanks to the amniotic fluid, your baby will fortunately not notice any pressure on your belly from a fall or a knock. The amniotic fluid also keeps a constant temperature, so your baby is never cold. Your baby also regularly takes a sip of amniotic fluid and so learns to swallow and drink. Your little one has to get rid of all that water again, so the baby regularly does a wee in the amniotic fluid. Any waste products are filtered out of the amniotic fluid by your body.
