Week 22
About the size ofa sweet potato
The foetal position… Your baby is now 28.5 cm and 440 grams.
Your baby is moving a lot now, but to grow well it also needs to sleep. This sleep usually follows exactly the opposite rhythm to yours. You will probably notice that the baby becomes active mainly when you lie down to rest, and sleeps when you are busy. When you lie down, your baby tries to regain its balance, and when you are busy and on the move, your little one is gently rocked to sleep. Sleep is important and every baby does it in its own way: snugly curled up in the foetal position, which is slightly different for every baby. One sleeps with its chin on its chest and knees pulled up, another with one leg stretched out, a third with a hand on its head. Most children will also feel most comfortable in that sleeping position after the birth.
