Week 40
About the size ofa small watermelon
The due date! Your baby is now 50 cm and 3400 grams.
Finally: the due date. Every hour after it in which nothing happens probably feels like one too many, although most babies take little notice of this. Will the baby notice much of the birth? During the first hours it can still sleep a little. When the contractions come faster and faster, it can move less and wakes up. The pushing contractions are the least pleasant for your baby: the head is pushed back and forth. Once born, all the pressure falls away. The baby does have to get used to all kinds of new stimuli, such as bright light and loud sounds, in a short time.
