A look inside the womb

Ultrasound, also called sonography, makes your baby’s development visible using high-frequency sound waves. This safe and painless method gives us valuable insights:

We make all scans at our practice at Dorpsstraat 182 in Zoetermeer.

How it works

Sound waves bounce off the internal organs of you and your baby. A computer picks up these ‘echoes’ and turns them into moving images on a screen. This is how we see the womb and your growing baby.

Completely safe

Ultrasound has been widely used in medicine for decades. Extensive scientific research has shown no negative effects on the unborn baby, and it cannot cause a miscarriage. It is a safe alternative to X-rays.

A comfortable examination

The examination is not painful. Depending on how far along you are, the scan can be done through your abdomen or vaginally. Sometimes light pressure is applied to your abdomen, which can be briefly uncomfortable with a full bladder.

The 13-week and 20-week scans are carried out at our practice by our external colleagues Lisette van der Does and Lisette Herbert-Vermeer.

Keepsake scans

Want to see more of your baby? At our practice you can also have a keepsake scan: a 2D scan from 6 to 36 weeks of pregnancy.

After the scan you receive 2 black-and-white photos, and at the end of the scan you have the option of making a short video of about 1 minute of your baby.

The scans are done on different days and at different times of the week, and it is often also possible at the end of the day or in the evening. Call our assistant Monday to Thursday between 09:00 and 14:00 on 079-321 71 72, or email info@keita.nl to make an appointment.

Please note: this is not a medical scan and is not covered by health insurance.

Practical information

• Location: Verloskundigenpraktijk Kéita, Dorpsstraat 182, Zoetermeer;
• Payment: by debit card, or the exact amount in cash, on site;
• You may bring whoever you like to a keepsake scan, up to a maximum of 4 people because of the space in the scan room.
• Costs (not covered by health insurance):
  • 2D scan: €45 for 20 minutes including 2 black-and-white photos;
  • 2D scan: €50 for 20 minutes including 6 black-and-white photos

You have the right to cancel your booking free of charge up to 24 hours before the keepsake scan. If you cancel within 24 hours of the keepsake scan, no refund is possible.
