When to call us straight away

Sometimes you should not wait until your next appointment. Then call us straight away, day or night.

Call us immediately, also at night and at weekends, if you:

• have bright red blood loss;
• feel your baby moving less or differently than you are used to;
• lose amniotic fluid or think you do, especially if it is green, brown or bloody;
• have regular tightenings or contractions before 37 weeks;
• have severe abdominal pain that does not go away with rest;
• have a headache that does not go away, see spots or flashes of light, or have pain in your upper abdomen or under your ribs;
• have a temperature of 38 °C or higher;
• have a lot of itching, especially on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet;
• have had an accident or fallen on your belly.
